one more good thing. because it is awesome. doesn't this quote just make things better?
"Faith is something greater than ourselves, it enables us to do what we've said we'll do, to press forward when we are tired, hurt, or afraid, to keep going when the challenge seems overwhelming and the course uncertain."
-President Gordon B. Hinckley

for good lyrics. because they are too good not to share.
(Elphaba) I'm limited
Just look at me - I'm limited
And just look at you
You can do all I couldn't do, Glinda
So now it's up to you
For both of us - now it's up to you...
(Glinda) I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
(Elphaba) It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
(Glinda) Because I knew you
(Both) I have been changed for good
(Elphaba) And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the thing I've done you blame me for
(Glinda) But then, I guess we know
There's blame to share
(Both) And none of it seems to matter anymore
(Glinda) Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
(Elphaba) Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood

WICKED is good.
NO NO NO. I do not mean sin! I mean the play, sillies. I love Wicked! I had the opportunity to see it when I went to CA for choir. I'd had the music for long before that (thanks to bff) but I hadn't listened to it much. I knew some of the songs, but they made SO much more sense after seeing the awesome musical. Well, this is a random post, but I just turned on the music tonight and remembered how much i love it!
fav. songs:
*I'm Not That Girl (i can relate to it, sadly. haha)
*Dancing Through Life
*For Good (REALLY great message too!)
*Defying Gravity (this one was TRULY amazing live!! ahh..)

hike hike hike
I went on a 12 mile hike today. We left at 6:00 am and started hiking around 6:30. There were six of us in the group and we got to this point in the trail and decided to go up the mountain, instead of following the trail. We just kept climbing. Then, my friend's sister's friend, Heather, and I decided not to go that way anyway. So, we returned back to the where the trail was and hiked towards the peak for about another half hour. Well, we decided that since we had been gone 3 hours, we should turn back because we had all been planning on turning around at 10, and we really had to use the bathroom! We started hiking down, which took us a lot longer than expected! We returned to the parking lot two hours later, at 11:30 am. Well, we called to see where the rest of the group was. They had decided to just hike to the top (we had been about 3 miles away when we turned back). Which meant that we were in the parking lot for two hours. Haha. Man, sometimes it's crazy how slow time goes! We sat on the car for an hour (yes ON. We didn't have the keys), and then walked around a bit. Then we went up a different trail for 10 minutes (where i spotted the dragonfly and took pics), and returned back to the lot. We tried finding shade because the afternoon sun was quickly approaching. I ended up getting a little burnt, but then we could see the remaining posse members coming down the mountain on the switchbacks. They looked so little up there!
After an eventful morning, I'm pretty tired! And red. But here are some pictures, for your viewing pleasure. Including: pretty flowers, snow on the mountain, bffs, dirty feet, dragonfly, and more!

i wish it were fryday
Yes, i know it is FRIDAY. But, today I want to go swimming. I want to tan. I want to fry. Not literally. But a pool would be nice! I'm so excited to go to SEVEN PEAKS next week! It will be very fun, and very worth it! I wish I had a nice pool to lounge about in. But, since I don't, I will just count the days till seven peaks. That, and find a friend with benefits (aka a pool, or a relative with one...).
american idol
american idol is coming to slc july 29. should i try out? i've been informed of this audition date by a few family members, so i think that means they think i should try out! new blog.
I started a new blog because i got in this kick today of finding out upcoming 5k's. I was on this website and I wanted to add info about the Roy Days 5k, but you had to have a website to back it up. So I started one. HAHA! So, add me to your lists. Tell your friends who might be interested in running 5ks.

if i were brave..
i'd do this

or this

but maybe this is a little more sensible

see, I know my hair would never look good in a short-do. Why?
1)chubby cheeks/round face look chubbier with short hair
2)my hair is so thick it would never look like these photos. sigh..
her hair is pretty too

maybe I just need some layers and I definitely need to get my hair thinned! asap.
okay, one more photo i swear! i like this look too.
well, maybe i'll make a trip to a hair stylist sometime. then again, i'll probably chicken out.

times a tickin'
today i realized something...
i'm almost an adult. well, by age anyway. i'm going to be off to college in a year. deciding a major. dating college boys. i'm going to have to be a...grown up. Gone are the days of "what do you want to be when you grow up?". those days are here and now. I can no longer fantasize over what I would like to do someday. My "someday" starts in no time at all. In a year, two of my friends will be BACK off their missions...looking no-doubt for someone to marry (not me, mind you). I don't think I'm old enough to have married friends...I'm not old enough to be a senior. And yet, the time has come. Life moves quickly. Ever so quickly. And you can never slow it down.

like a mouse nibbling on cheese.
My mom asked if i had eaten any cookies today. I thought they were gone; apparently there were some in the freezer. So, mom leaves for her nightly run/walk and I open the freezer door, and remove one cookie from the ziploc bag. But then, there is only one cookie left. And it's in a huge plastic bag. So why not just save myself the trouble of maneuvering the zipper, and just eat them both?
Nice logic, I tell myself. Nice.
Nice logic, I tell myself. Nice.
i feel smart when...
I "overhear" (no i was not eavesdropping) a conversation at the table next to me as I'm trying to quickly finish the pamphlet-project.
Conversation as follows:
"Do they have a dictionary at the library?"- subject 1
"Of course they do!"- subject 1's friend
"I'm going to go get one. I want to see what D.N.A. stands for."- sub. 1
At this point I wanted to say something, but didn't until subject 1 returned with dictionary and proceeded to repeat his quest to find out what it stood for. Then, my moment of glory, I turn a little to the left, and say, "Deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA." and turn around. I felt like I was in a movie..

day two at la biblioteca
Well, today wasn't quite as enjoyable as Monday. For the first hour and fifteen minutes, I attached double-sided tape to library cards, and then put the library card in a pamphlet with info for new library-card users, and then inserted a book mark on "damage control". But, after that task was completed (i did HUNDREDS of them...), I was sent back to the children's section. Once again, I organized books on carts, and organized all the childrens' board books and also the JR (junior reader) section.
I also was blessed to see a lady from our ward there who gave me a lovely ride home!
One thing I love about the library? You can always check out CDs and taste all different types of music.
Just returned: Hitch Sdtrk (didn't like it), and Emerson Drive (love them!).
Borrowed Today: Joyce Cooling (don't know who she is, but I found it in the Jazz section, along with my other two cds..), The Very Best of Nat King Cole (I like him for Christmas, why not all year?), and Duncan Sheik (once again...not sure what he sings, but I might like it. Might not!)
e.t.a- Don't like Cooling. Reminds me of elevator music. Next...

Since discovering this website on Monday, I have watched season 1, episodes 1-4.
You can also see some episodes of this:

I like Bewitched better, but Major Nelson is much more attractive than Darrin.
don't you think?
darrin stevens or major tony nelson?
Anyway..
if you have any time to waste, check out www.hulu.com to watch some awesome tv shows!

cheri the librarian

today i began my volunteer work at the library. For two hours a day, twice a week, I will be organizing books on the lovely stuffed-to-the-max carts, and then shelving those books. I worked in the library all through junior high (even got the nickname the "library girl")so I knew the process fairly well.
Here are some accounts from my day:
*kids and parents sorting through the carts I have just gotten ready to shelve!
*funny conversations between children and their parents. "You will read this chapter book this summer!" "But mom, there are no pictures in it!!"
*a lady comes and asks me if I work there. "Uh, sure.." The conversation continued, "Well, you have a dead fish floating at the top of your aquarium." "Hmm..that's not good."
I'm pretty sure I didn't look like I worked there, maybe I should wear this next time?

wylers authentic italian ices
these yummies make the hot summer days worthwhile!

they come in four delicious flavors: lemon, raspberry, kiwi-strawberry, and orange creme. Raspberry and lemon are my favorite! We bought our package of 16 at Rite-Aid for only $1.99. What a yummy snack and only 50 calories :)

[me enjoying a delicious lemon ice-pop one warm sunday afternoon- today. haha]

i heart efy.
yay for photo post!

My best friend at efy, Jordan. I met her the first day and so many people asked us how long we had known each other. They were shocked we had just met!

Jordan and me during the service project- we knitted hats!

Tyler, my cow. And guess what? He's a year younger than me! But he looks older!

Just a picture of my dress...well sorta. I got a little bored before the variety show started.

Look at this awesome smiley! Can you see it? I could not resist taking a picture :)

These are the nicest guys. Jordan and I hung out with them a lot (well at least Thursday and Friday). It stinks because by the time the week ends, you are just getting to know a lot of the people! Case in point...

well, I wasn't tagged, but I wanted to fill this out! So I'm doing it anyway!

gone vintage
i love the vintage look! maybe the sixties era rubbed off on me (it was my favorite era that i learned about this year in history). Needless...these are some lovelies I would gladly place in my closet.

[although the mannequin does creep me out]

okay i just really love the colors and style of this, but it wouldn't go in my closet. Hmm..you know..I was thinking this was a radio. Is it? haha. The coral/mango color combo caught my eye.

and I have always had a crush on typewriters. Especially the old fashioned ones with the high keys. And i love this color :)
Sorry, I'm really done posting for tonight!

"hello, larry"
yet another layout.
well, when I got on today, something had gone wrong with my old layout. I'm not sure what it was, but I decided to try this one anyhow. I like change. Why not?
Church was excellent today- really one of the best Sundays I have had in quite some time. And I don't think it's just because one of my guy friends moved into our ward. Although that certainly helped. But young womens was just amazing too (great job, Britt!).
Now, it's off to another busy week. EFY! I found out my friend registered for the same week so I will be riding with her. Her whole ward is pretty much going. So, it might be a glorified seminary class up there if I end up knowing a bunch of people. Needless, it will be fun!
And I'm thinking of trying out with Love Song. Maybe I'll record it and post it to see what you all think...I'll contemplate that.

sore fingers.
since last night, I have played (over and over) "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles. I got the sheet music, and now I'm trying to learn it in time for EFY. I won't have it memorized, but I'm not sure you can't use music in the talent show. I guess we'll find out. It's super fun to play, but it does make my fingers sore because it's pretty vigorous.
What song do you think I should try out with? I have normally done something to karaoke, but this year I want to try playing piano instead.
a) Almost Lover (is that a weird title to sing at EFY?)
b) Let It Be (the song that started this phenomenon)
c) Love Song (still need music, but I still like it a lot)
those are all the options I'm giving :)

guys.
here is my problem:
i like boy (a).
boy (a) doesn't like me.
i like different boy (b).
boy (a) starts to show interest.
see the problem?
or here is another common problem:
i like boy (a) for a long time.
boy (a) flirts around here and there.
boy (a) really likes me too.
i notice that i don't like boy (a) liking me that much,
and i stop liking him.

boy (a) can talk to me about anything.
i'm a great "friend".
he knows i like him.
he likes me "a little" but other girls too (and more than a little).
so i remain his good friend to listen to his problems.

camping

camping isn't camping
with an r.v.
or an air mattress.
I like the knotty ground beneath me as I sleep.
I like having a sore back, if that's what it takes.
I love the smell of campfire, the dust and grit that coats your
body no matter how many times you frequent the water tank.
The only thing that gives me the creeps? Port-A-Johns. Ick.
