#CreepyPickUpLines

For those of you who follow me (or @samuelhardman) on Twitter, you might have seen the following tweets. But they're funny, so, too bad.  Your choice to read them again.

It all started on Sunday when I brought a baby to church. For clarification, I was babysitting. But what a magnet for attention! Then, I see this tweet before Sacrament Meeting started:

@Cheripeacock, mother for the day.

It continued with this:
@cheripeacock I have always thought you would look good as a mother. #CreepyPickUpLines

......and for 24 hours, Sam and I battled back and forth, throwing out #CreepyPickUpLines.
These were some of my favorite:

@samuelhardman you sure looked good carrying the diaper bag & carseat for me. Let's do this for eternity? #CreepyPickUpLines

@cheripeacock I wish it was our child in that car seat. #CreepyPickUpLines

@cheripeacock I want my children to be musically talented and I see you are in the choir. So, I will let you do the math. #CreepyPickUpLines

@samuelhardman When I fall asleep or wake up, your life-sized face is the first thing I see on my wall. #CreepyPickUpLines #AlsoTheTruth

Then, we had someone join the conversation:

@samuelhardman @cheripeacock the world learned it from you #twittermaderomance
and another...
@samuelhardman @cheripeacock does a #twittermaderomance end up in a pinterest planned wedding?
But, throughout Monday, we continued the banter:

@samuelhardman at least I know that when you are in Texas, you're still only 140 characters away. #CreepyPickUpLines

People were entertained (Super entertained by the being sent back and forth by @cheripeacock & @samuelhardman)

One more for the day:
@cheripeacock You can either date me or I will stalk you. Your choice. #CreepyPickUpLines

And more interaction with others about our #TwitterMadeRomance
@cheripeacock @samuelhardman know the awkward feeling when you are in the same room as a romantic couple. Same feeling with these tweets.
&
@kirkblake @cheripeacock @samuelhardman I had to witness. I AM in the same room. I had that feeling. #barf

Ever have a conversation on Twitter? I even lost a follower in the 24-hour period. I guess he/she doesn't have a sense of humor!

snapshot sunday.

This weekend, the "Thunderbird Awards" and the "Thunderbird Ball" took place on campus.  It was a formal event, but I opted for a semi-formal, more comfy option (even though dancing in 5-inch heels is probably not recommended). Anyway, I thought I'd share a few pictures from the night:

I love excuses to wear red lipstick. I still don't know why my hair is looking so blonde in this photo, though.
Amanda and I before going to the ball.
I also participated in a 5k on Saturday that benefitted a little girl who is fighting cancer. I'll post more of that soon, I hope. We had some great "pre-race stretching" photos too.

Well, just one more week of class. One week of finals. Then the summer begins ... ps. I forgot to tell you, but....I'm also going to be working at The Little Brick House this summer! Yes, after a post about how great their food is and a giveaway, they decided to hire me ;) I'll be working in the antique shop (did you know I LOVE antique stores?) and hopefully also making sandwiches too. I'll let you know how it goes!

Happy Sunday!

all dressed up & nowhere to go.

This morning, I put on my new skirt, tucked in my blouse, slipped into my comfy sandals, and headed off to campus. It was warm. And I was loving it. I had a few people ask me, "Why are you so fancy today?" And while I did have a presentation in my Spanish class, sometimes I love wearing skirts or dresses. I would have a closet full of them if money allowed! But, I thought I'd share with you some photos .... well, just because.

And, on an unrelated note, but because I love these trees that are blossoming all over campus, here is a picture of that too:

Are you looking forward to summer? I am excited and anxious all at the same time -- 2 more weeks of school!

snapshot sunday [b&w]

It's been a great weekend -- a fantastic break before this week of craziness and the following few weeks of insanity (aka ... three more weeks until my junior year is OVER). I thought you might enjoy some photos from my weekend (obviously edited via Instagram). Apparently, I was in a black & white mood!
Rebekah & I before going to the temple on Saturday
What a great collage of emotion! This is my friend Austen and I. Can you tell we kind of were feeling goofy? And possibly singing HSM throughout the night?
My roommate Heather and I on the drive down to the temple for stake temple pie & icecream night. Heather is going on mission to Canada in two months!
There are some photos to update you on my life :) So grateful for the good friends I have in my life. Seriously. Blessed.

I've never done a giveaway before, but what better time to start, right? I'm excited to announce that the winner of this giveaway will receive ONE FREE MEAL at The Little Brick House, my favorite place to eat in Cedar City.

I've been there a handful of times and have tried the following: buffalo chicken philly, gourmet grilled three cheese, philly cheesesteak, and the pulled turkey breast. If you want to take a full look at the menu, click here.  All are delicious,  come with freshly made potato chips and a pickle spear. YUM. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

music monday & good news.

It is BEAUTIFUL outside today. I have wanted to go on a run since I walked to my first class this morning...just counting down the few hours until freedom from the classroom. Not only is it a beautiful day, but this past weekend was wonderful too. My mom came down to watch my choir's Easter performance. We went on a few walks alongside a river, which gave us time to chat about everything ... life, work, school, recipes, the summer, boys, the gospel, etc. I really loved having her visit and stay with me. Plus we ate at the Little Brick House, Paradise Cafe, and made a delicious Easter Sunday meal (I might need to do a post about this weekend's food!).

Yesterday after she left, I went on another walk with my roommate, Amanda. She and I ended up visiting friends & couldn't stop laughing. On the way home, we linked arms since it was rather later than intended. But all in all, I feel grateful for these little moments I've been blessed with this weekend that have shown me:
1. There is a purpose to everything.
2. No matter what, things get better.
3. I am loved and have been blessed with friends & family who show that to me.

And, this morning my teacher returned our tests that we took last week. Now, I'll be honest. I've done well in the class (mass media theory & effects), even though it scares me and intimidates me and challenges me. But, this test was the hardest for me, subject-matter wise. I didn't feel like I'd retained all that I needed to adequately prepare. Then, we get our scores back. My teacher addresses the class: "Well, I'm sorry to say some of you didn't do as well on this test...except for braniac over there, who only missed five." And I look up to see that he's looking right at me. Talk about awkward. But, I'm not going to lie. Getting the high score and "upsetting the curve" kind of made my morning.

Finally, let's post a music video or two since it is "music monday" after all.

How about....

"Skip to the Good Part" - He Is We (absolute favorite right now)

"Let It Begin" -- Julie Yardley (EFY 2010) I found this song a few weeks ago while searching for EFY songs, which have always been some of my favorite "church" music.
My favorite words from the song:
"Mistakes of the past don't define you ... they refine you."

I only have those two this week, but I hope you enjoy them. Have a great Monday! If you have any song/artist suggestions, leave me a comment.

to one of my best.

Guess what?
20 years ago today, Miss Rebekah Schaff was born.
A little more than 5 months ago, she and I became friends by hiking Angel's Landing together. It was sort of by chance that I ended up going on the hike -- I happened to be in the same room when plans were made & she invited me. It was a much needed getaway from a rough semester & I'll always be grateful that I decided, on a whim, to hike with three strangers, now friends.

Bekah is always willing to help (whether that be with my cookie cravings or grocery store trips or occasional boy meltdowns that happen far too often than necessary). She's my running buddy, my coupon & price matching partner in crime, my go-to when it comes to trying "healthy" food like almond milk, quinoa, and Greek yogurt (all of which I LOVE, thanks to her).

Even though she likes...love to make me feel awkward sometimes (right?), I know she'd help me in a heartbeat if needed.

Happy 20th Birthday, Rebekah!
You're the best & I'm happy to call you one of my best friends :) I hope today is the best day yet.

tuesday tunes.

Sorry, these next few weeks will be quite swamped but I wanted to share two songs that I am loving lately. Here they are & I hope you enjoy them!

"All About Us" -- He Is We featuring Owl City (great video)

"Come Home" -- One Republic & Sara Bareilles

Now it's time to study for another exam! Eek. Please be kind to me.
