not on cloud nine..

hello, dear blogging world.

the stress of spring semester is hitting. right about now.
the only thing on my mind lately is newspaper, newspaper, newspaper...did i send out story assignments? are the photographers notified of the events? when do i need to edit stories? am i supposed to be writing any articles this time?

oh, and then there's always these things in the back of my mind:
-where did all the boys go second semester? cause they sure aren't where i am.
-how come i'm obsessed with jess + rory?
-where am i going to live next semester?
-who am i going to live with?
-will that zit go away soon?
-is there a limit to my love of icecream?

....time to study. at least i LOVE my music class!

an adventure.

yesterday, a dear friend and i traveled for four hours to see a concert. It featured some favorite bands (SafetySuit and Parachute) and introduced 3 others. I was not fond of two of the three, but the other one, The Rouge, is awesome. They're a little crazy, but I like their music. I think they're gonna go far.

Anyway, it was quite the experience! Especially catching a drum stick, standing next to the stage, meeting all the band members, taking photos that don't look attractive cause it was so hot in there, driving through scary snow, playing game after game to stay awake in the car, and arriving back at 4 a.m. (I was able to get a few hours of sleep before school!). Here are some pics:

{I like their music. The Rouge}
{Me & Scott}
{I don't know why I like this pic of Parachute singer Will's legs...it just shows how close we were i guess}
{Parachute...Will. I met him too but he had a creepy face}

Anyway, i love music.

bye!

weddings, etc.

can i just say how much i LOVE my family? Seriously. I think you may be quite jealous when I tell you just how much fun we have together. Weddings, games, laughter, fast talking, multiple conversations, etc.

I had such a blast over the weekend. And my brother is now married to an amazing girl. Congrats Jake & Angie :)

This American Life

...that's the theme of my English class this semester. As part of our assignments (besides doing assignments on clay tablets, typewriters, and creating podcasts), we listen to two radio broadcasts from "This American Life" each weekend then we have seminars and discuss what we heard and our insights.

Today was our first seminar. It was quite interesting. One of the shows we listened to was about taking a long shot. But, some questions I came up with today after the seminar were:

Do you take a long shot? Or are YOU the longshot?
Success can't be defined by just one moment...or can it?
When it comes to a "long shot", is self-disappointment greatest of the fears?

If you have insight to any of these questions, post it in my comments :)

new semester,

It's a new semester and today, my roommates and I had our FIRST roommate dinner. It was #1 delicious, and #2, awesome. We went around the table and (no matter how cheesy it sounds) one-by-one said what we liked about each other. :)

At church, I was feeling in the mood for a game night (plus I got such fun games for Christmas) so I went crazy and invited lots of people. It was such a success! We played Catch Phrase, Fleurk (the best game ever!), Love tap (or something like that), Honey I Love You, and Fruitbasket. It was so fun. I love game nights and will most likely be having them more often on Sunday nights. It's a perfect way to socialize with a lot of people!

resolutions.

everyone makes them, and I'm going to share mine with you:

(These are a few I thought of the other day and are now on my computer via the awesome "stickie note" application...love it!).

-Exercise 3xs a week (I have a class so that'll definitely be happening). I went this morning before class and while it made me feel great, I also realized how long it's been since I've worked out!
-Eat healthier (limit fast food to once a month) and try to eat more balanced meals. Kind of hard living the "college life" and so far, I've failed at eating very nutritious meals...but I'll try!
-Be to church on time, and have a good attitude about learning :)
-Practice piano more (1 hour on Sunday)
-Read scriptures BEFORE homework (and before class, when possible)
-Baptisms once a month
-4.0 GPA (I did it before college, I should be able to now!).
-Be open and friendly. Don't hold back. Say "Hi" to strangers and don't be FEARFUL! I do this randomly sometimes when I see a new face, but I want to do it even more. Talk to people cause who knows what great relationships you could be missing out on??

There are some for ya! Tell me yours in the comments, if you want!

-Cheri

HNY

Happy New Year, blog readers.

It's 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning, and I have been in the newsroom for 2 hours. I went to bed at 1:30 last night...woops? Anyway, yesterday I ate, slept, and drank newspaper. Workshops, assigning stories, editing stories....it was a lot of work. But, I loved it! It definitely kept me busy, and I know it'll be work to manage this and school work (and a social life) starting next week, but I'm committed to doing it! And, as our "Captain" told us yesterday, "Don't panic!". He even made us a sign to hang up.

In OTHER news, I won something, folks. A giveaway on this blog. What, you may ask? A LOCKET. Ah. Dream? Yes. And a tote bag with my initial on it. I found the blog completely by happenstance. How? By googling "antique locket". See what I won here. I can't wait for my package to arrive. PS. Her blog is cute. Read it.

-back to the newspaper.
