How is it June already?

Somehow June sprung up on us this week. We had a few days in the 80s last week ... and today is back to the 50s with rain. But, it's beautiful nonetheless. We are now in week 4 of the transfer! I don't know how that happens. This week will be really crazy because we will be going to the mission office twice (once for womens' conference tomorrow for all the sisters -- I'm singing a solo!) and once on Thursday for a trainer/trainee meeting. We've been setting up appointments to teach and have to jump to Friday or Saturday because the rest of the days are full. This makes me very happy indeed :)

Sometimes, we get to Mondays and the entire last week seems like a blur! Let's see what happened ...

Most of our week was spent revising the ward roster and trying to track down all the members. We have about 11 active "families" in our branch, but have 7 pages of members. We spent a few days calling, driving to homes, and trying to find these members. More often than not, the numbers were wrong and sometimes the addresses didn't exist. But we're trying. We want to reach out and strengthen the members here so that after we are gone, they are still strong and supportive of each other. We have been able to meet with some less active families and offer service to them. Even though we aren't working all day long with investigators, I have come to realize the Lord needs missionaries for other purposes sometimes, including branch members.

So, one of the pictures I'm including is of "The Big Duck" located in Flanders, NY. We were driving past after an appointment and stopped to take a photo. Two women pull up and I walked over to ask if they would take a photo of the three of us. Very friendly women. One started asking why we here, where we were from (love these questions!) and then the other woman got out of the car. I ended up saying, "Well, we have an appointment we have to get to, but could we come visit you at your house sometime?" And, as it turns out, one of them actually came to our game night a few weeks ago and remembered us. I thought she had looked familiar, so I was happy we both remembered each other. But, we're hopefully seeing them this week! The Lord gives us opportunities in every place!

Saturday, we helped clean a woman's house. It took about 6 missionaries and 3 hours to clean two rooms. This included removing about 8 bags of dirty laundry and folding about 6 bags of "clean clothes." We removed all the furniture from the bedroom, scrubbed walls and floors, etc. It was a humbling experience. It also made me think of the TV show Hoarders (for ZACH) and how I now know I could never work on that show. I'm glad we were able to help her though!

Sunday, our investigator, Elizabeth, came to church again. We were surprised because we hadn't met with her this last week but she came ON HER OWN. We're not sure what to do still because her Muslim husband does not want her bringing the children to church (like she did last week) and so it is really hard. We can keep teaching her, but we just pray daily to know what direction to take.

Also, have I told you about Matt? He's an awesome investigator! The elders found him at Walgreens and had invited him to the culture night, but he couldn't come. They invited him again the next month when we had the game night and he came. He was given a Book of Mormon and two days later, had read a good chunk of it. He came to church that Sunday (and the past two as well), takes a page of notes during Sunday School, and asks a lot of questions during the lessons. He is being taught by the elders since he is a single man, but we have all been able to talk and get to know him. He came to our branch bbq for Memorial Day and he was so friendly, getting to know all the members, etc. When Elder Spencer gave him the baptism commit, he said it was "very quite possibly going to happen." We'll see. But it's a really exciting thing to see the fire he has for learning!

Anyway, I think that's about it for this last week. I'll attach some photos now, since that's the best part anyway!

Cute little Megan. I love her!

One day, the elders switched couches with us bc our place is smaller and we wanted the loveseat.
