when work becomes play...

welcome to my life.
ambassadors.
newspaper.
red nailpolish.
quickly done ponytails because your shower is currently broken and you didn't have time to run upstairs and ask to use their shower before giving a tour this morning.

but, i have dancing fever right now. we had a school dance last night and i danced for over 2 hours. and i didn't even care how silly i looked. i felt like a rockstar. and for awhile, i even convinced myself that i wasn't half-bad at dancing (don't kid yourself). and, i was impressed by the dancing skills of those around me (especially the men i had the privilege of acting like fools with).

and, today in the office? i blasted some music and had an impromptu dance party. with myself.
back to work!

I dropped a jellybean ...

and other small tales from my life :)

Here at the paper, we have a quote board. Most of you won't understand (or care) about these quotes, but since they make ME laugh (and few select others), here are some of my favorite:

Me: "(What if) I'm a fresh-woman" Referring to the term freshman + what my brain does after long hours.

While I am discussing various Spice Girls (and their names), coworker Hub said: "Pumpkin spice should've been one of the spice girls. They'd have stayed around longer."

Hub: "I wish I had a Hostess cupcake for my pillow" (seeing a plush pillow)
Me: "I wish I had a Hostess cupcakes for my mouth!"

Elwood: "If Google was a man, I would find a state where gay marriage was legal and marry it."

AND finally:

Me: "Ah man! I dropped a jelly bean down my shirt."
Cleveland (down the next row): "I'll get it!"

inappropriate.

happy wednesday!

bouquets of sharpened pencils.

it's that time of the year again!

I have now been a college sophomore for 2 days (although today I was told I looked 16, which made me a little sad...I was hoping at least 18 these days!). It's already been hectic, like I predicted, but there have been plenty of fun memories made already.

I'm thrilled about my institute class, nervous about stats, wish I could remember more Spanish (I should definitely know the things I'm learning and thus will probably be staying in the class, rather than testing out as I had hoped), and working up my nerves to talk to mr.foreign-exchange student once more. Luckily, with my job at the newspaper, I can easily make up a reason to talk to him again (cue story on study abroad students!).

In other news, please listen to this girl. She has a beautiful voice (reminds me of Zooey Deschanel). And....if you would like to get me a birthday present this year (or just for fun), I'd love her CD (wink wink....). But, even if you don't donate the CD to me, just listen to her. For yourself. You'll thank me. Plus, she's just pretty.
Alright, off to do some homework, editing, and other fun joys.

ps. i hope you're all familiar with the title of this post. If not, shame on you.

I've got a feeling...

that this semester will seriously rock!
Crazy?
Busy?
Hectic?
Make-me-want-to-crawl-in-a-hole-and-hide at times?
Full of all kinds of adventures? YES!

I'm so excited to join this organization (where I have already met many new friends) and continue being a part of this (with a new position, things remain exciting).

Don't worry, there will definitely be many entertaining posts this semester I'm sure!

love,
me.

it's late.

12:26 a.m.

I should be sleeping. But instead I'm studying for my communications final. It's tomorrow (today) at 9 a.m. It's only 25 questions. I'll be DONE in pretty much 9 hours. Then I have the rest of the day to: get some Christmas shopping done with the help of Blake, help out with a service project, eat, watch Gilmore Girls (hopefully, cause I missed it today), and study (lots) for my LAST final (Nutrition). Oh, and pack. And start working on getting story ideas for the newspaper....ah. A busy week indeed!

I think I'll do well on this final. It's frustrating because a lot of my friends have gotten 99-100% on some finals and I want that to happen to me!! But, I will just do the best I can :)

It's snowed here lately...it looked gorgeous yesterday when I woke up and saw all the freshly fallen snow. See what I mean?

Today I learned LOTS about inDesign (what I will come to know very well over the next few months with the paper...I'm excited to learn, but it will be stressful at first and a little overwhelming!). Thanks Kelly for teaching me today. Here we are, after hours of layout! And me, with my first "practice" page. Hoorah!

Ok, it's bed time. Actually, it's time for more studying. Then bedtime. Gooooodnight! (now 12:35)

Allred

One of my favorite musicians, Allred is performing here this weekend. I've been counting down the days -- I can't wait!

Well, one of the perks of working in the media is that I suggested I write about the event, and give Mr.Allred a call. I actually ended up talking to all 3 people performing that night. Anyway, here is the article that the cover of the Accent section. Read it :) It's fun.
